We didn’t have a lot of time to photograph this bunch but we spent an hour capturing what doesn’t happen very often;
A lot of family all in one place! I think 6 of the family members travelled up from Trinidad and the USA to visit their Calgarian family.

This family is joyful and crazy about each other, the way families should be! It was a blast to be mixed in with them.

Everytime I round the corner to our front door I am greeted by my herb box.
Hanging our herbs was a decision we made last year, and Geordie’s garage sale shotgun shell box find was the perfect vessel.

I know, it’s just a herb box but it has become a bit like a welcome mat at our doorstep.

L, J & K all graduated this past weekend.
I woke up on Saturday to light rain and these crazy beautiful clouds… threatening rain clouds.
I had my fingers crossed that they would just hover in the background until my sessions were over. No rain please.
Lucky we were. During the commencement ceremonies the thunder and lightning struck, perfect timing!
The rest of the day was picture perfect, as were these girls (and their dates)! Congratulations to all of you and good luck in your next adventures.

What luck we had with the clouds! L and her date were rocking it and I am crazy about the last images of the bunch.

J had her whole family with her for grad; aunts, uncles, grandparents, they were all there.
We spent time photographing in the families backyard. I adore her smile and her for being a trooper
in the beginning with the light rain, before the sun came out.

AND, K!
We had a few minutes to capture these photos before the dinner, dance and party started.
It was a long day for the graduates.
We found an closed in area in a local park and I think K looks like the princess of the forest!

You may have seen their sneak peek earlier this week?
I met this family a few years ago when I did their first family session and oh my! the kids have grown.
I love doing repeat sessions and getting to watch everyone grow up!
This session was part of my spring special at Kinbrook Island Provincial Park.
I absolutely love the marsh in the spring when everything is still dry enough to walk into.

I can’t believe that it’s almost the end. of. may!? Where is the year going?
I think a lot of High School grads are wondering that too, but probably more excitedly in anticipation of the end of school.

I have a few openings left for Graduation photos in Brooks, AB on June 5th.
I am also offering a graduation special for that day.

Ahhh… the sun!
Since hunkering down last week and having to postpone a lot of sessions it’s been nothing but sunshine and work!

I still have a few spots left for the Spring Special Sale on Saturday.

Hunkering down, like a seagull.

We’ve been doing a lot of hunkering down lately.
Hunker: to squat or crouch down low. He hunkered down beside her.

If Canadians do nothing else we certainly talk about our weather A LOT! It’s been a windy spring to say the least.
I used to joke that when I moved to Brooks to be with Geordie I was wearing fogged up love goggles…. over time, as they
began to un-fog and I (happily) could see where I was, my biggest realization was the lack of trees. I was shocked!
We’ve had so much wind here lately that I’m surprised we haven’t all blown out of our underwear yet. So much wind
that a few trees around would sure come in handy! Just saying.

This morning I woke up to 90km/hr gusts of wind and a whole colony of seagulls on the front lawn, hunkering down.

It’s 1 week until a white snowy Christmas!

I was so proud today when I dropped by the food bank in Brooks with my 45 cans of food.
You, dear blog followers, did that. Thank you.
I called ahead and asked if there was anything in particular they needed more of.
Hot chocolate and Cranberry sauce. Coming right up.

Geordie and I have been super reflective this past week on how lucky we are. We have everything we could possibly need. And more.
We have our families within an arms reach or a 3 hour drive, we all get along and love spending time together. We also have the best of friends.

Christmas is a special time of the year; people make more time for each other, bake cookies for each other (a personal favorite) and share and laugh and celebrate.
There really is nothing I love more than a good evening with family or friends, something which I need more of in my every day life.
That’s what I love about Christmas, we drop work, we take time, we appreciate and I can’t be more excited for this coming up.
That and our awesome neighborhood just cleared a skating rink on the lake and I hope to practice my super slick hockey moves soon.
And by super slick moves I mean ‘slippery, wobbly but totally dedicated to trying’ slick moves or dangles as they are more commonly referred to.

Here’s the haul. I had meant to photograph them under my outside tree but that would have meant bringing it all home and then driving it back to town. Nah.

It’s here!
The last day of Cans for Comments.
I’m so excited that we are over 40 cans! Good job people!

Tomorrow I shop.
It’s never a good idea to post without a picture. Here is The M family, they have been on the blog before.
We went out a few weeks ago in the fresh snow and the excitement of Christmas and snow storms in the air.
I adore people who love snow storms as much as I do.

Family of 5! :: Calgary Family Photographer ::

My friend Chandra introduced me to Sara years ago when her and Chris were just together.
Now look at them. A full family of five!
We spent some time in the park playing around before heading back inside.
It was a bit of a fresh fall day. I do feel like now that winter has settled in, fresh takes on a whole new meaning!

Sara’s friend, Amber Tsoi came over from Bragg Creek and did her hair. Now that’s an awesome friend! Sara looked great.

Little D was pretty bundled up for the better part of our session, for a new guy it was pretty chilly.

Ms. M is two. She liked me better at the end of our session.
Probably because I looked like a weirdo with a big black camera and long lens attached to my face that was trying to be funny.
Ask Geordie… I’m so hilarious. It’s a Boekel thing. Being funny. Get it?!

I like these two and the big cuddles!
